More than 1,000 employees working for HM Revenue and Customs will continue to work in Preston in a welcome boost to the local economy.
. But a fresh announcement has seen all staff remain in Preston; a number thought to be around 1,400 full-time equivalent roles. The location for the Preston site will be announced in due course. HMRC is yet to determine whether St Mark’s House and St Mary’s House will be retained or if a new base will be established elsewhere in the city.Angela MacDonald, HMRC’s Deputy Chief Executive and Second Permanent Secretary, said: “I am pleased to announce HMRC’s long-term commitment to keeping skilled jobs in Preston.
HMRC also has a further 11,800 roles based in the North West, in Salford, Greater Manchester, and Liverpool
