The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating a deadly crash that killed a 22-year-old man in Maple Valley on Wednesday.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that killed a 22-year-old man in Maple Valley on Wednesday.At around 8:55 p.m., troopers responded to reports of a crash on SR-169 at milepost 16 near 201st Pl. SE.When they arrived, they discovered that three cars were involved in the crash. A Federal Way man, 22-year-old Steven Black, was pronounced dead at the scene.A 53-year-old woman inside another vehicle sustained injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment.
According to the WSP, unsafe passing caused the crash.Investigators say that Black was traveling northbound on SR-169, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with the two other vehicles.The roadway was blocked for four hours and seventeen minutes while crews investigated.It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The WSP reported that Black was not wearing a seat belt.This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
