Shonen Jump's best manga became some of the best anime ever.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT It’s no secret that Weekly Shonen Jump is the biggest manga publication in the world. Its circulation is among the highest of any manga publication in Japan, and the manga that have been published in it, like One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, are always among the best-rated and best-selling manga in the world.
Death Note is one of the biggest anime to come out of the 2000s, and it’s easy to see why that is. The psychological thriller elements of the story are still some of the most unique of any anime, and thanks to Death Note’s incredible score and direction that still hold up after almost 20 years, every dramatic and intense scene from the manga is elevated to an even higher level of quality.
Despite the popularity of the manga, it took 25 years for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure to get a proper adaptation, but it was well worth the wait. Having decades’ worth of material meant that the series could be adapted without any filler, but more importantly, every installment of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure perfectly plays to the aesthetic of the manga with its shifting color palettes and overall creative animation and direction.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai didn’t garner a lot of attention during its run, but it’s a great anime to watch, nonetheless. Not only does the anime feature some of the best animation of any Toei Animation anime, but Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai’s commitment to playing its cliche story completely straight results in a lot of great character writing and genuine sincerity, so the writing always feels fresh, despite how old the manga is.
Naruto is another anime that makes up the Big 3 of shonen anime, and it more than lives up to its reputation. Despite its inconsistent animation and overabundance of filler, Naruto never fails to deliver incredible fight scenes and gripping character drama, and the fact that the problems everyone deals with grow in depth as they all age is a brilliant way of illustrating the anime’s continual escalation.
