Dogs4Rescue, a free-roaming animal sanctuary in Eccles, has 10 dogs available for adoption. This article highlights the stories and needs of each dog, including Myla, Roo Roo, Ella, Ronie, and Iyla.
The bond we form with our pets is undeniable - our furry friends helping us through the many ups and downs of life. But while there are plenty of dogs out there with lots of love to give, some have to wait a little longer than others to call somewhere home. The team at Eccles -based free-roaming animal sanctuary Dogs4Rescue, which cares for its dogs on a 41-acre kennel-free rehabilitation retreat, currently have many pooches available for adoption on their website.
As of Thursday, January 23, the 10 dogs listed below are at the centre and currently available for rehoming. Forms can be filled out here. Myla Staff say Myla is a stunning young girl who is growing in confidence by the day. She can be timid initially but it doesn’t take long for her to climb up into your arms for a cuddle – rescuers say she thinks she is a lapdog. Her foster family say: 'Myla is such a beautiful girl and is eager to please, she sits down when she’s told, goes on her bed when we’re eating, she waits at the top of the stairs until we get down and still won’t come down until she’s told. We haven’t taught her any of this, she really is the most perfect girl.' Myla needs further socialisation with other dogs, she is excited and very keen to meet them but at this stage staff feel she would be best suited to being the only dog in the home. She cannot live with cats. The rescue are looking for a quiet home for Myla where any children are aged 16+. Adoption fee: £250 Roo Roo, who was born without front legs, does not let her disability stand in her way. Staff say she’s got bags of enthusiasm and a real zest for life. She’s super agile and has even mastered jumping up onto the bed. Rescuers say she is a lovable, sweet and affectionate soul. Roo was very worried when she first arrived at the shelter as she felt vulnerable and afraid, but staff say it did not take her long to make friends with the help of some tasty treats. She is good with other dogs once she has established a friendship and could live with another dog in her new home. She could also live with cats. Rescuers are looking for a special home for Roo with someone who can see past her disability as she is still willing and able to live life to the full. Roo would be best suited to a quiet home with older teens aged 16+. Adoption fee: £250 Ella Volunteers say Ella is a beautiful girl with the most adorable, expressive face. She is an easy going, sweet natured dog. She is very friendly with everyone she meets and is attentive and well behaved. She enjoys playing with squeaky toys, but also loves her home comforts and will happily spend hours snoozing by your feet. Ella will need further socialisation with other dogs as she has displayed some lead reactivity which she will require ongoing training with. She can be strong initially so will need an active, experienced owner capable of walking her. She has displayed an interest in small animals so cannot live with cats. Ella would also be best suited to an adult only home. Adoption fee: £250 Ronie Ronie originally arrived at the shelter back in 2020. He had a number of homes but sadly came back each time after showing some issues, always around protecting his person, either against others in the home or visitors. Ronie has been in a stable foster home since July 2023 where he has really settled and proved that in the right environment his behaviours can be managed. Sadly for Ron, his foster mum can only continue caring for him until February 2025 and so the search is on to find him another foster/trial. Staff say they are always very clear about what needs a dog has, and Ronie is a fantastic character, but he can get stressed when visitors come to the home and is therefore unpredictable. He needs a quiet, one-person home, where he can feel safe and be popped into another room if someone does visit. Ronie is a happy boy most of the time and a joy to be with, he’s very affectionate but he can snap if he feels anxious. He has clearly suffered some form of abuse in his young life and needs a home where he can relax with his person. Ronie is house clean and does not have have any separation anxiety. He can be okay with some dogs but he wants to live as an only dog and would prefer a calm home with few, if any, visitors. He cannot live with cats. Adoption Fee: £250 Iyla Iyla is said to be a beautiful, dainty girl; a sensitive soul who loves to be loved. She has the softest fur and the most beautiful chocolate button eyes. Staff say she enjoys sleeping, eating and relaxing. When comfortable, she will come and dip her head into you ready for a cuddle. One of Iyla’s favourite ways to spend the day is also through play when tempted by a tugging or cuddly toy and staff say she is adorably gentle when doing so. Iyla is currently spending some time in foster where she has settled in remarkably well. She can be unsure of new people initially and is fearful of unknown me
