CLEVELAND, Ohio -- De’Lawnte Hardy , who faces aggravated murder charges in the slaying of his grandmother and a Cleveland police officer six days apart, pleaded not guilty on Monday during his arraignment.officer Jamieson Ritter , 27, as police sought to arrest Hardy on a warrant in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood on July 4.

Several Cleveland police officers had arrived to the scene that morning to serve a warrant on Hardy stemming from a June 28 shooting in Garfield Heights. During that incident, Hardy stole the gun of his 63-year-old grandmother, Beatrice Porter, and shot her in the head, prosecutors said. Porter was hospitalized and put on life support before she died July 4, according to authorities.on 18 counts last Wednesday.

Chief Public Defender Cullen Sweeney declined to comment. Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out Ingalls. When Miday asked Hardy if he had read a copy of the indictment, he said he was dyslexic but that a lawyer had read it to him. Hardy also suffers from schizophrenia, according to police records.
