Around 100 houses were gutted in a fire that hit Barangay 650, Intramuros, Manila, on Saturday afternoon, August 5.

The Manila Police District and Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire started on the third floor of a three-story house on 12th Street Tamburong.The BFP said the fire displaced 200 families.The fire escalated to the third alarm at 5:07 p.m. and fourth alarm at 5:16 p.m. The firefighters said it took them another hour before they were able to extinguish the fire at 9:49 p.m.Police noted that no casualties were reported.

According to the Manila Department of Social Welfare , the affected residents refused to leave their damaged houses.Authorities are still investigating the origin of the fire.
