The future of Old Trafford is high on the agenda for Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and a task force has been created to explore options.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe immediately set the wheels in motion to address the future of Old Trafford after acquiring a minority stake but the process was never going to be straightforward.
The inaugural task force meeting was held in April and when asked about it, Manchester's Mayor, Burnham, told the MEN: "It was an introductory meeting. We were all getting to know each other, although most of us knew each other already, but just scoping out what we could do. It's understood the end of the year has been earmarked for the task force to conclude their findings and from there, plans will be submitted for a new 100,000 capacity stadium.
"So in other words, the fans could come there and do some stuff. So include the campus in both cases, in very simple terms you are talking about one versus two . Early estimations suggest a new rebuild of Old Trafford would cost around £2billion, with roughly three years needed to complete a world-class stadium.
