Leeds has played host to some events to remember through the decades.
Launched in the 1990s this colourful summer arts city centre festival was enjoyed by thousands of people. Scrapped in 2004 when council chiefs claimed it didn't offer best value for money and ruled it should be scrapped.Celebrated city life during the late 1970s through the 1980s and into the 1990s.
The parade,featuring marching bands, hundreds of majorettes alongside dozens of floats, brought huge crowds onto the streets.It was the annual free pop party that everyone was invited to. Started in 1994 it played host to a galaxy of chart-topping artists at Temple Newsam. The music stopped in 2014.Kirkstall Abbey was the spectacular backdrop for this classical music concert held each year at the end of September. Axed in 2015.
