Angola LNG is considering expansion with a new processing unit due to expected increased natural gas supplies from Chevron and the Eni-BP partnership's New Gas Consortium project.
Expected additional natural gas supplies over the next year have prompted the consortium operating the decade-old Angola LNG project to consider expansion with a new processing unit, company executives have told Reuters. The Angola LNG project was commissioned more than 10 years ago after $12 billion of investments by a large group of companies. This sum is one of the largest ever single investments in the Angolan oil and gas industry.
supermajor Chevron and the Eni-BP partnership, Azule Energy, plan to ramp up gas supply, according to industry executives. “Angola LNG is already thinking about this expansion, if it’s a mini train or one additional train, so there are many ways to do it,” Azule Energy’s chief executive officer, Adriano Mongini, told Reuters. With the new gas projects, Angola LNG could finally run at full capacity and seize additional market opportunities with demand in Asia and Europe.
