Manchester United have several players entering the final year of their contract, which will be overseen by Erik ten Hag after the manager agreed a contract extension
Manchester United opting to keep Erik ten Hag means that many of the squad are now set to have their futures decided during the manager’s tenure.
Amad, 21, who has an option for a further year, returned from injury and showed moments of quality, priming himself a breakthrough season. Willy Kambwala, 19, also proved to be dependable during United’s defensive crisis and has plenty of potential. It could certainly be argued both young players deserve new contracts.
One of the more intriguing dilemmas is Scott McTominay, who has an option to extend his contract until 2026. The Scotland midfielder, 27, was expected to leave the club last year but fought his way back into contention to score a cluster of clutch goals for United. He will have significantly boosted his transfer value but could defy the odds once again to stay at the club beyond his current deal. Fulham have been linked with a summer deal.
On that topic, Harry Maguire also has an option to stay at United until 2026 and proved his worth with a string of commanding displays during the never-ending cycle of centre-back injuries. However, the 31-year-old could move on before then, with the club already eyeing the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite to take his place, unless the former United captain is happy with a backup role.
