Warehouse workers at Spec’s Wines, Spirits, and Finer Foods in Dallas have voted to join Teamsters Local 745. The group of over 125 workers unionized to secure the wages, benefits, and job security that are guaranteed by a strong Teamsters contract. For North Texas labor leaders, it’s another small, but still important victory for the future of the movement, said Secretary-Treasurer of Local 745 and Teamsters Southern Region International vice president Brent Taylor.
“We are proud to welcome these workers into our Teamsters family and are committed to helping them secure a strong first contract,” he said in a statement. “Together, we will ensure workers at Spec’s achieve the wages, benefits, and job protections they deserve.”420 workers at Molson Coors’ Fort Worth brewery went on strike, workers locked down a new three-year contract which included much of what workers were asking for including wage increases and a better benefits package.
