A 13-year-old boy is facing capital murder charges after an attempted robbery turned fatal in west Houston.

Authorities found the victim, 18-year-old Bryan De La Cruz Chaparro, sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.Further investigation determined that Chaparro was killed during an attempted robbery and a 13-year-old boy was the suspected shooter. The teen was already in custody of the Harris County Juvenile Probation when the murder charge was filed.
