A 14-year-old girl has been convicted of attempted murder following a violent attack on two teachers and a fellow student at her school in Wales. The incident left all three victims with injuries, most seriously a neck stab wound that required emergency airlift to Cardiff.

A 14-year-old girl has been found guilty of attempted murder at Swansea Crown Court after a harrowing attack on two teachers and another pupil at her school. The incident occurred at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, during the school's morning break in April 2024. The teenager, who was 13 at the time, attacked teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin, before moving on to stab another girl. Staff managed to restrain the attacker, preventing further harm.

All three victims survived the attack, but Ms. Hopkin, who sustained a neck stab wound, required emergency air ambulance transportation to Cardiff. Judge Paul Thomas KC presided over the case and, while not setting a sentencing date, assured the jury they would be informed 'in due course'. The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of wounding with intent and a further count of possession of a bladed article on school premises. However, she denied the attempted murder charge. She smuggled a fold-up multitool knife, resembling a Swiss Army knife, into school concealed within the cargo pants she wore instead of the standard school uniform. The girl claimed she brought the knife into school instinctively and did not intend to harm anyone. She stated she didn't know Ms. Hopkin before the attack and had no intention to target her neck. The trial revealed a disturbing pattern in the girl's behavior leading up to the attack. She had a history of bullying in her previous school and had started at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman late in Year 8, aged 12, after her mother left home. According to the prosecution, she had 'sinister eyes' during the attack and targeted Ms. Elias, stabbing her repeatedly in the arm. Ms. Hopkin, a special educational needs teacher, intervened in an attempt to stop the attack on Ms. Elias and was subsequently stabbed in the neck. The girl then allegedly targeted a nearby pupil, stabbing her in the upper torso and leg, repeating her threats to kill. The school was quickly placed on lockdown, with Dyfed Powys Police arriving to detain the teenager, who had scratches and marks on her arms. The girl's notebook and drawings contained disturbing references to death, killing, and 'burning' a person, cutting their 'mouth and eyes to death'. Phrases like 'crime of a lifetime', 'something humans are not supposed to do', and 'Why do I want to kill others as much as I want to kill myself?' were found within her writings
