The Warm Home Discount Scheme for winter 2023 to 2024 is set to open in October and will give people on certain benefits £150 off their electricity bill. The scheme eligibility rules changed last year, which means some people may no longer qualify and others might need to apply as they will not receive the discount directly.
The dedicated Warm Home Discount Scheme pages on GOV.UK will be updated soon, the information is intended as a guide and will be updated if any of the details change, this includes the list of participating energy suppliers. This is known as being in the ‘core group’ in Scotland and being in the ‘core group 1’ in England and Wales.
Scotland - if you’re on a low income If you do not get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit you may be able to apply directly to your electricity supplier.DWP advises that your supplier may have additional criteria so you need to check with them if you’re eligible.In Scotland, your electricity supplier decides who can get the discount.
