The council leader said: 'We're not on our own' as the local authority look to address their budget overspend
A council in Merseyside has reported a £15m financial blackhole and said control measures would have to be implemented on all future expenditure. Sefton Council 's cabinet convened at Bootle Town Hall this morning to discuss the local authority's most current financial position against the budget forecasts approved earlier this year.
The result of the overspend was described by Mr Van Arendsen as 'clearly significant' and would mean a 33% reduction in the council's financial reserves to cover the shortfall.
