Some truly awful cases
December was another busy month in the courts. Crimes ranged from a woman who carried out a terrifying knife-point robbery on a shop to a thug who repeatedly punched his ex-girlfriend and broke her nose.

A search of his home turned up a large amount of cash and a further stash of drugs.
Daniel Jeyes Daniel Jeyes, 37, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, repeatedly punched his ex-girlfriend and broke her nose during a violent attack at their home. John Chittock A Nottinghamshire woman was strangled and had a cigarette stubbed out on her head by a 'demonic' attacker. John Chittock, 38, of Vaughan Avenue, Doncaster, subjected the woman to a 'catalogue of violence', assaulting her multiple times between March and June 2022.
Anthony Riley Disqualified driver Anthony Riley, 32, was travelling 89mph in a 30mph zone in an attempt to evade the police when he collided with a tree on Hawton Road, Newark. Newell, of Claremont Road, Carrington, admitted to three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place. Concurrent sentences were handed down to Pemberton for two offences of assault, causing bodily harm, after he left one of the victims he exploited with a graze to her head, and the second with swelling and bruising to her thigh after using a machete to injure her.
