A 16-year-old boy is facing a committal hearing after being charged with the murder of Vyleen Joan White, 70, during a carjacking in Redbank Plains, Queensland. The incident led to changes in Queensland's juvenile justice laws.
A 16-year-old boy from the suburb of Bellbird Park, Queensland, is accused of murdering Vyleen Joan White , a 70-year-old grandmother, during a carjacking incident outside a shopping center in Redbank Plains on February 3. The youth faces up to more months in custody ahead of a magistrate's decision on whether he will stand trial. He has been charged with murder, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and three counts of theft.
His case had a mention in the Ipswich Children's Court, where it was discussed that he would have a committal hearing on March 14. The court is still uncertain about the number of witnesses who will testify and any potential DNA evidence
