Emergency crews responded to the leak around 9:30 a.m.
Officials say 17 people were taken to the hospital after an acid leak in Franklin County. It happened in the 800 block of Development Avenue in Letterkenny Township at 9:31 a.m. on Thursday.A photo from the scene shows a yellow substance dispersed into the sky.According to the Letterkenny Army Depot, the incident is at a facility leased to a private company outside of the depot. They had a shelter-in-place order that has since been lifted.
Clinical teams from WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital were notified of the incident involving chemical reactions. The first patient arrived at the hospital for treatment around 11 a.m. Emergency Department teams have since evaluated 17 patients for exposure to chemicals. The incident is under investigation.
