According to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, the shooting occurred during a fight at the mall on Oct. 17, 2021. The DA said Sanchez, who was 16 at the time, was walking in the Park City mall while in possession of a stolen, loaded firearm.The three got into a fight, and Sanchez fired two shots, hitting Deliz in the leg and an uninvolved 30-year-old in the arm.Vargas proceeded to pull Sanchez to the ground, and another shot was fired, hitting Vargas in the hand.The bystander told Sanchez to stop moving before taking his gun.
According to the DA, the shooting prompted a "mass exodus from the mall," which caused an elderly woman to fall, break her elbow and injure her lung. The woman is now living at a personal care facility.
Sanchez was ordered to pay $24,536.73 in restitution, and he will be sentenced after an pre-sentence investigation, the DA said.
