1A Champion Leroy celebrates state title, holds ring ceremony at Farish Field
) - Back to back 1A state champion Leroy held their ring ceremony at Farish Field at Palmer Stadium on Sunday. The Bears won 5 straight under Chan Lowe after head coach Jason Massey was deployed in October. They ran right through the playoffs and all the way to a blue map finish.
Coach Massey’s wife, Melanie, was in attendance and presented with coach Massey’s ring on his behalf. Leroy started the season 4-0 before Lowe took over for Massey. The Bears went on to play an undefeated season, going 14-0 after beating Coosa christian 28-21 in the championship game. The Bears didn’t miss a beat on the way to a repeat. It’s still unknown exactly when coach Massey will return but his state championship ring will be waiting for him when he does.
