Gary Ledlow and Ashley Ledlow have been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a controlled substance .

Deputies along with Clanton Police were called to the area of I-65 South and the 212 exit just after 2 p.m. on March 20.

The suspect and victim’s vehicles got off at the 212 exit and turned southbound on Hwy 145. then right onto Bell Lane Road. Investigators from the Clanton Police Department stopped both vehicles in the 600 block of Bell Lane Rd. The two suspects, Gary and Ashley Ledlow were taken to the Chilton County Jail for questioning by investigators. The victim went to St. Vincent’s Chilton for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound/graze to the neck/chin area.

“We extend our gratitude to the Clanton Police Department, Jemison Police Department, 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and ALEA for their assistance. It is unfortunate that individuals resort to firearm use in moments of anger, resulting in someone being shot. Once a bullet is fired, its impact cannot be undone, affecting lives irreversibly,” said Chilton Co. Sheriff John Shearon.

Authorities are asking anyone who was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 near the 217 mile marker who may have seen anything to contact the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office at 205-755-4698.
