At least two people have died in Oklahoma after nighttime tornadoes ripped through the state Saturday.
Hughes County Emergency Management reported four injuries and two fatalities, with one being an infant, after a twister. Several injuries were also reported in the Sulpur area in Murray County.In Hughes County, 14 homes were either damaged or destroyed. Debris blocked Highway 9 for most of Saturday night in Sunday morning.
Several vehicles overturned on I-35 during the storms. The interstate is back open to traffic as of Sunday morning. At least one building, a church, in Midwest City sustained damage in the storms.County Commissioner crews have been working on clearing trees from roadways. Gov. Kevin Stitt issued a state of emergency for 12 counties after the storm. The executive order reads, in part:
