The 1960s is memorable for plenty of reasons, from the invention of instant coffee and the computer mouse, to incredible things like the first man landing on the moon.
Also in Nottingham the filming of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning took place in Lenton, teenagers were twisting the night away on Victoria Embankment and local residents in Bulwell used boats to get around due to flooding. Billy Smart’s circus also paid a visit, famously walking his elephants through the city centre, the first Atlantean bus hit the roads in Trinity Square and Princess Margaret visited a church in Clifton.
