FAIRBANKS, Alaska - 36-year-old Galen Smith pleaded guilty to fourth-degree drugs misconduct Wednesday in connection with possessing and selling fentanyl-laced pills.
The agreement cements a five-year sentence with two years suspended and credit for about a year and a half of time served on house arrest. Troopers obtained a search warrant to listen to and record conversations between Smith and an informant in Oct. 2022. During some of the recorded calls, the informant purchased fake Percocet containing fentanyl from Smith, according to court documents.In addition to the guilty plea entered Wednesday, Smith also has three prior drugs misconduct convictions from 2014, 2015 and 2018.
