People ‘cautious’ about house pricing as inflation begins to decreaseNAB Chief Economist Alan Oster says people should be a “bit cautious” about house prices while inflation begins to drop as fears of the economy “flatlining” are predicted towards the latter half of the year. “I think there is still a risk that you’ve got another rate rise coming somewhere ... the next move down is probably early next year, cause we’re seeing signs in the economy that things are slowing,” he told Sky News Australia. “We see the economy in the second half of this year as flatlining, and that pushes unemployment up ... the turnover is down a lot, and if people basically have to sell, then the turnover goes back up, and that sort of means house prices we still think will fall during the course of the rest of this year.”
