From the March/April 2024 issue of Car and Driver.Lap Time: 2:37.2Class: LL5 | Base: $269,680 | As-Tested: $284,510Power and Weight: 518 hp • 3207 lb • 6.2 lb/hpTires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R Connect; F: 275/35ZR-20 N0, R: 335/30ZR-21 N0If you're in the business of winning track days, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will send your stock upward. With active and adjustable aero elements, the RS may have as much wind-tunnel time as a Boeing.
You could spend all day tinkering with the four steering-wheel knobs, but we had just three days, and dialing in the braking points was more important. We don't have a historical braking stat from VIR, but if we did, the GT3 RS and the 11.4-mph-slower Ford Mustang Dark Horse would likely duel it out to be king of going deep. Although the GT3 RS hits 157.3 mph at the end of the Front Straight, it feels even faster because you can brake well past the number-five marker.
