If there's a niche in the automotive landscape, you can count on BMW to find a way to fill it. The luxury automaker offers an astounding range of nine SUV models with distinctive body styles, offered with a variety of gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric drivetrains. To keep up with the tastes of its SUV-hungry buyers,with a multitude of changes for the 2024 model year. Some models have simply received new paint colors while others have undergone full redesigns.

Under the hood, a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine develops 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque for xDrive28i models, and an enhanced powerplant churns out 312 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque for the M35i variant. Regardless of flavor, all X2 SUVs come equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Front suspension tuning receives a major reworking, which BMW says should improve ride and handling.

Both I-6 and V-8 models receive mild hybrid assistance. Six-cylinder sDrive40i and xDrive40i models now develop 375 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque while the eight-cylinder M60i XDrive, formerly called the M50i xDrive, remains the same as it was the year prior at 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The BMW X5 M sits at the top of the range and the non-Competition model has been retired.

In the cabin, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display share a single pane of curved glass. Other changes include new paint colors: Marina Bay Blue, Brooklyn Grey, Blue Ridge Mountain, Skyscraper Grey, and Frozen Pure Grey. Finally, BMW's new Highway Assistant hands-free driving capability is available.is the X5's coupelike sibling.
