House Democrats who spoke on camera last night were largely supportive of Biden, even as the party’s divisions remain deep. Asked if Vice President Kamala Harris would be better at the job than Biden, Democratic Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said she would be “phenomenal,” but then said that Biden is the president and they will support him. Another CBC member, Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, was asked why the CBC has become such a key line of defense for Biden. “Because we’re the most loyal group of Democrats in Washington. Bar none,” he said.
