The 76th Emmy Award nominations held few big surprises: “Shogun” earned the most nominations for a drama, while “The Bear” continues to dominate as a comedy.
If it feels too soon for another night of celebrating the small screen, that’s because the 2023 Emmys were postponed due to theand didn’t take place until January 2024. This year’s awards cover shows aired between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024, with nominations announced by past Emmy Award winners Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph alongside Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
The sleeper hit of Emmy nominations was “The Morning Show,” which walked away with a startling 10 nominations, dominating categories such as supporting actor and actress in a drama series. “The Bear,” “The Crown” and “Only Murders in the Building” left with a hefty six nominations each. “The Bear” nominations remain controversial, as some don’t believe the show fits into the comedy category. “Shogun” followed with five nominations and the Prime Video game adaptation hit “Fallout” scored two.
