Luke Dickerson, N.J.'s Player of the Year, tied Mike Trout and Ashton Bardzell's N.J. single-season HR mark this spring
Dickerson was selected by the Washington Nationals in the second round, 44th overall, of the 2024 MLB Draft on Sunday, becoming the second-ever Morris Knolls player to be drafted directly out of the Morris County high school.Dickerson, a Virginia commit, is coming off a standout season at Morris Knolls.
Dickerson hit .467 with 49 hits, 46 RBIs, a state-leading 64 runs scored, while stealing 27 bases on the way to helping Morris Knolls win its second consecutive Group 3 championship and being namedDickerson graduated with every major hitting record at Morris Knolls and also helped the hockey team win a state championship last winter.
Scouts were at every Morris Knolls game during the spring, watching closely as Dickerson’s combination of hit, power and speed had his stock rise significantly on teams’ draft boards over the past few months.
