The 2024 Summer Olympic Basketball Schedule continues tomorrow with a big clash between South Sudan and Serbia. Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic is hoping
to get another victory on the world's biggest stage and finish up in second place in their group. After taking a loss to Team USA in the opener, Serbia bounced back with a win over Puerto Rico.I think that Serbia is going to get it done vs South Sudan tomorrow and cover the spread. Bogdanovic and Nikola Jokic are both going to have big games in the victory.
At the end of the group phase, the top two teams in each group will automatically advance to the quarterfinals. Additionally, the two best third-place teams will also move on to the quarterfinals. All other teams are eliminated from the competition. While those who follow basketball know that Daniels is already one of the best defenders in the NBA, there have been questions about his three-point shooting and that is what's catching my eye the most at the moment. I have been hopeful that Daniels would take the starting spot next to Trae Young, but for him to do that, he was going to have to be able to shoot the ball. So far this summer, he has done that and coming into today, he was shooting 40% from three.
So far during the Olympic exhibition games, Daniels is showing why he might be a critical part of the Hawks future. While Daniels is already an elite defender, his ability to be a consistent shooter has come into question. This summer, Daniels has been a good three-point shooter while not losing a step on defense.10 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 3.2 APG, as well as three steals per game.
Daniels saw action in 61 games during the 2023-24 season, posting career highs of 5.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 22.3 minutes. He scored 10-or-more points in a career-best 13 games during the 2023-24 campaign, netting a career-high 17 points against the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 12.
