Australia-listed producer battles low graphite prices
Australia's Syrah Resources is planning on a big 2025 as it expects to move towards a construction decision for its Vidalia graphite anode plant in Louisiana, USA, Viren Hira . GM business development & investor relations told Mining Journal.
Its strategy of over-capacity development, mainly of synthetic graphite, a direct competitor to natural graphite, has resulted in cost base switching from natural to synthetic, reducing demand for graphite feedstock from suppliers such as ourselves. Fine pricing FOB China has fallen from $850/t to $400/t recently," said Hira.
