You’d be hard pressed to find someone who couldn’t instantly identify a pair of Dr Martens boots. With its lug-sole and distinctive exposed yellow stitching, this week, the original 1460 design turns 60 – and our love for the kickass combat boot shows no sign of abating.
The boot may have started life as a symbol of working-class culture, making waves with skinheads and London’s punk scene alike, but its tough appeal really has stood the test of time. In 2019, profits at Dr Martens surged by 70 per cent in the year to the end of March, with online sales rising by two thirds.
