boss became famous for forming creative partnerships with a series of incredibly beautiful women, but Lagerfeld pioneered this approach as far back as the early ‘80s with Parisian style icon Ines de la Fressange. When Lagerfeld cast de la Fressange as his muse, she immediately became more than a mannequin or the face of his latest fashion campaign.
As well as walking in Lagerfeld’s early shows for Chanel, she was invited into the creative inner circle of his studio. She also became the first official “brand ambassador” for the French house, until the pair reportedly fell out in 1989. Their reconciliation was marked more than two decades later with de la Fressange’s return to the runway for the spring/summer 2011 ready-to-wear show.
