Vargas has a terrific work ethic but is not a natural goalscorer like Shankland who can sniff out chances in the box. Nasmith’s side registered just two meaningful shots on target all night and he’ll be praying to get his number nine back ASAP.
In the main, he picks his best team and sticks with it. It feels like Naismith now has to do likewise. It’s understandable that he wanted to strengthen his squad this term, competing in the Premiership and Europe.
