Even those who survive will be put down
A petition has been launched to save the lives of 36 beagles set to be killed after being force-fed pesticides for a year in a lab.
The lab, in Michigan, says this will be done so the beagles’ organs can be examined to see how the pesticides have affected them in a bid to expose any dangers to humans. A spokesman for the group, whose petition currently has almost 140,000 signatures, said: ‘This cruel and unnecessary testing includes the force-feeding of pesticides to the dogs, who are otherwise held in practically barren cages.‘The dogs who don’t die from the poison throughout the tests are scheduled to be euthanized in early July.’
A frightened-looking beagle is seen at a testing lab in undercover footage obtained by the Humane Society of America They explained: ‘These dogs used for testing often come from large, USDA-licensed breeding facilities.
