An ambulance carrying a critical care patient collided with an SUV, leaving four firefighters and the SUV driver injured

An ambulance that was toppled by an SUV in South Ogden was transporting a critical care patient, authorities said, and four Layton Fire Department EMTs inside were seriously injured.According to a statement from LFD, the ambulance was in the process of transporting a 90-year-old patient experiencing a pulmonary issue Monday evening when it was struck by an SUV with enough speed and force that it knocked the ambulance on its side.

It wasn't immediately known if the SUV driver was suspected of being impaired or distracted in any way or if investigators believe the individual may not have seen or heard the ambulance as the vehicle approached the intersection.
