Large amounts of fentanyl continues to be seized in Utah n the last few days, 40,000 fentanyl pills were seized by federal and local law enforcement.
A staggering amount of pills have been seized in Utah by various law enforcement agencies all over the state. DEA agents showed some of the drugs seized in the state at a news conference on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Two people were arrested on July 30, accused of trafficking tens of thousands of pills. According to the arrest record, they are repeat offenders, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement is requesting they be placed on hold. Agents with a Salt Lake County-based narcotics task force arrested Sonia Elizabeth Escoto Anariba and Elder Doblado Garcia for trafficking 20,000 fentanyl pills. Arrest records showed the two were stopped while in a park, where agents found the 20,000 pills.“I’m seeing younger and younger people using them, and so we have a teen program and I’ve got teenagers who are out using fentanyl,” she said.
