SUBIC, Zambales — A total of 400 fishermen from three coastal towns in this province received aid from Sen. Francis Tolentino on Monday.
Tolentino went to Sta. Cruz town to jumpstart the Zambales leg of the payout for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program where 121 fisherfolk from the Burador Fisherman's Association were given P3,000 each at the Sabang Covered Court in Barangay Sabang.The senator also visited Masinloc and doled out P3,000 each to the 248 members of the Masinloc Fishermen 's Cooperative at the Masinloc Municipal Building. Sen.
He then proceeded to the town of Subic and distributed P3,000 each to the 47 members of the Subic Commercial Fisher's Association at Waltermart.Tolentino said that the tension with China in the West Philippine Sea has gravely affected the livelihood of fishermen, noting that there is a need to put up archipelagic boundaries within the territorial waters.
