More than 48,000 individuals have been affected by rains, flooding, and landslides brought by a low pressure area in Caraga which triggered search and rescue operations from the PA 4th Infantry Division (4ID) and PCG, authorities said Monday, Feb. 20.

More than 48,000 individuals have been affected by rains, flooding, and landslides brought by a low pressure area in Caraga which triggered search and rescue operations from the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division and Philippine Coast Guard , authorities said Monday, Feb. 20.

A report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said a total of 13,070 families or 48,565 individuals were affected by rains, flooding, and landslides in Caraga due to the effects of an LPA over the weekend. There were 128 flooded areas in Agusan del Sur , Agusan del Norte , Surigao del Norte , Surigao del Sur , and Butuan City . Seven roads and one bridge were also deemed not passable for motorists in these areas.

Meanwhile, the 29th Infantry Battalion Quick Reaction Team conducted road clearing operations and evacuated affected residents in Brgy. Poblacion in the town of Santiago and in Brgy. Tagmamarkay in the town of Tubay both in Agusan del Norte. In Surigao del Norte, troops from the 30th Infantry Battalion provided manpower, transportation, and security assistance to residents trapped by rising floodwaters in Brgy. Pongtud in Alegria town.
