More reinforcements are coming to the offensive line as the 49ers are drafting USC offensive guard Jarrett Kingston in the sixth round with pick No. 215.

The San Francisco 49ers are drafting USC offensive guard Jarrett Kingston in the sixth round with pick No. 215. This makes the second offensive lineman that the 49ers have taken in the 2024 NFL draft with the first being Dominick Puni.

Kingston is a five-year college player who spent his first four years at Washington State before moving on to USC last year. He measures in at 6 foot 4 inches with a weight of 305 pounds. Last season he allowed four sacks and 17 pressures in 12 games played at both right guard and right tackle. Throughout his college career, Kingston has been shuffled all over the offensive line. The only position he didn't see any snaps at was at center, so the 49ers will have to figure out where they will look to mold him exclusively.

When he was playing at Washington State in 2022, Kingston arguably had his most success there as a left tackle. He didn't allow a single sack and received an impressive pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus. An encouraging sign is that he is a vastly experienced player. It goes a long way. It's good that the 49ers are investing in the offensive line. They have to start hitting on these packs and develop them well. Kingston is one example of a good investment since he has proven versatility. The 49ers have to find where he can fit best on the offensive line.
