Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises have been warned not to over-spend on any stadium projects
Redeveloping Elland Road must be at the centre of 49ers Enterprises and Red Bull’s plans for future growth and success at Leeds United. That is the belief of football finance expert Stefan Borson as the Whites aim to win promotion back to the Premier League at the second attempt.
Borson told Football Insider: “It’s important that the stadium is a focal point for the city. It needs a lot of redevelopment. It’s an underdeveloped site, so there is a lot of work to do there. But it has to be part of the whole development of the club under the ownership that it’s got. “That combination of Red Bull and the Americans you would think are going to have a real go at bringing Leeds back to the top of the game.
“Then how much they decide to spend on the development of the stadium. We have seen already a number of clubs that have overdone it in terms of the spending. It’s very important that they can control that spending.”
