Five people died, including two children, in two separate shootings on the Fourth of July in Fort Worth.
At least five others were injured during the shootings Thursday, which officers responded to within less than 10 minutes of each other in east and south Fort Worth, police said.Investigators believe one shooting erupted after a crowd of hundreds took over multiple blocks and people launched fireworks toward homes. A woman was killed and a man died of a medical emergency, police said. No arrests have been announced in that shooting.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. His identity did not appear to be listed in the online records Friday afternoon.A 15-month-old girl and a 4-year-old girl were among five people taken in private vehicles to a hospital. The two girls died from their injuries, police said.
The three others, who were shot, were taken by private vehicle to a hospital are not believed to have life-threatening injuries, police said.
