It's going off as the champions ramp up their business
The Hoops have been alerted to the availability of the 22-year-old Venezia star after a potential move to Inter Milan broke down. Celtic are set to finalise Paulo Bernardo ’s £3.75m permanent switch from Benfica but are also monitoring several midfield prospects with interest in Matt O’Riley ramping up.
Liverpool are now understood to be tracking the Parkhead playmaker with Serie A Atalanta expected to come back to the table after a £15m bid was kicked out last week. Leicester and Southampton are also waiting in the wings but O’Riley is now attracting attention of talent spotters at Anfield. Celtic are assessing several options and Tessmann has emerged as a potential target.
The US international is a wanted man after a stellar season at Venezia, with Serie A rivals Parma and Torino also in the mix. EPL side Brentford are also on his trail with the Inter bid now dead in the water after the midfielder was turned off by talk of a potential loan move back to Venezia or to England.
Celts have already moved to snap up keeper Kasper Schmeichel – who hooked up with the Hoops squad ahead of their friendly with DC United – and rival glovesman Viljami Sinisalo. Bernardo is all but a done deal and there is still optimism striker Adam Idah will return to Parkhead. The Irish hitman was involved with Norwich again and the Canaries are determined to dig their heels over the transfer fee.
