As winter approaches and energy costs rise, a new health threat is emerging in UK homes

With the cold weather and the cost of living climbing, a fresh health hazard is making its presence known across British homes: the menace of mould. Mould can wreak havoc on both your home and wellbeing, which makes it vital to tackle it at the earliest sign.

Bathroom and kitchen specialist Nancy Emery from Drench has offered five thrifty yet effective tips for keeping moisture at bay, protecting your health as temperatures drop. One straightforward technique could remove as much as 75% of moisture in your home in under five minutes.Nancy remarked: "Up to 75% of moisture, which will lead to mould, can be eliminated by wiping down wet surfaces immediately.

She also suggests turning on your extractor fans, despite the noise they can make. These fans combat mould growth by whisking away moist air from areas often exposed to dampness, such as kitchens and bathrooms, according to Mirror reports. Improving the efficiency of extractor fans is as simple as keeping them clean, as dust accumulation can significantly hinder their performance. As the colder months set in, drying clothes indoors becomes a common practice, but experts caution against hanging them on radiators.
