THE reported fatalities due to flooding caused by the combined effects of shear line and trough of a low pressure area during the Christmas weekend has climbed to 51, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported on Monday, January 2, 2023.
In total, 25 fatalities were recorded in Northern Mindanao, nine in Bicol region, five in Eastern Visayas, four each in Zamboanga Peninsula and Davao Region, three in Caraga and one Mimaropa.It said a total of 595,693 individuals or 149,957 families were affected by the weather system in 966 barangays in Bicol; Western, Central and Eastern Visayas; Zamboanga Peninsula; Northern Mindanao; Davao Region; Caraga; and Bangsamoro.
The agency said the damage to infrastructure was pegged at P1.137 billion and to agriculture at P243.029 million.
