Special agents from the DPS' Criminal Investigation Division conducted 12 human trafficking operations during January 2024. 52 trafficking victims, including nine children were rescued as a result of these operations. “Human trafficking continues to pose a major threat to the safety of our communities,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw. “These despicable acts are taking place in every state, every day, yet they often go unnoticed, which is why we are asking Texans to be more vigilant in order to stop the vicious cycle.”Special Agents responded to a location in Dallas with several hotels and apartments.
DPS advises witnesses to avoid endangering themselves by intervening or confronting someone engaging in human trafficking. If you see signs of human trafficking, call 911 immediately to make a report and be ready to give as many details as possible. You can also make an anonymous report on iWatchTexas or call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text “BeFree” to 233733.
