Approximately 211,000 vehicles worldwide need to be repaired including 55,000 in the United States. The issue involves potential water leakage into the electronic rear door latches, which could cause a short circuit and unexpected door openings, even while driving. While a permanent fix is being developed, owners are advised to keep their automatic door locking feature enabled.
Such occurrences may even happen while the vehicle is in motion. It has since been confirmed that approximately 55,000 vehicles in the U.S. may also be impacted and will also be recalled. All up, Toyota is recalling roughly 211,000 Prius and Prius Prime models worldwide.
