on behalf of Ukraine, with the celebrations now well underway. The contest was officially kickstarted with the Blue and Yellow Submarine Parade on Friday, May 5, as dancers, floats and magical sea creatures took over the city centre.
The EuroVillage also officially opened on Friday night at the Pier Head with a Welcome to Eurotopia event featuring performers including Ukraine's own 2022 winners, Kalush Orchestra. A crowd of nearly 30,000 people gathered outside St George's Hall on Sunday to watch theparty, with performances from former Eurovision winners, as well as the likes of Atomic Kitten and Jamie Webster.
The show also included aerial performers, drone shows and a dazzling light display that was directly projected against St George's Hall. Fans turned the city into a sea of colour as they turned out for the occasion wearing flags representing their home countries. The ECHO was invited for a behind the scenes look of the first dress rehearsals on Monday just before the public show kicked off.
