Merseyside was honoured with 57 Green Flag Awards
Merseyside boasts more than 50 Green Flag Awards following this year's review. Green Flags is an international award that recognises good quality parks and green spaces known for having great environmental standards, being well maintained and providing clean and safe visitor facilities. Green Flag Awards are issued on a myriad of criteria.
Eight key factors such as how welcoming a place is, health, safety and security, maintenance, environmental management and biodiversities are considered, before being broken into 28 even smaller categories overall. Green spaces across the region have been honoured with the title including destinations such as Sefton Park, Chavasse Park, Port Sunlight and Coronation Gardens.
